- I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of Texas at Dallas and the founder of the Laboratory for Bioinformatics and Medical Informatics (BMI).
- Interests: Bioinformatics, Medical informatics, data mining, Text mining, especially microarray and proteomics data analysis, system biology, computer-aided drug design
- Current MAQC projects: (Quoted from FDA) "The purpose of the MAQC project is to provide quality control tools to the microarray community in order to avoid procedural failures and to develop guidelines for microarray data analysis by providing the public with large reference datasets along with readily accessible reference RNA samples". Our interest is to desing new statistical and computational model to analyze the microarray data sets generated from different platforms and find out the cross-platform consistency.
- Current biological network analysis projects: Apply spectral techniques to biological network analysis.
- Current text mining projects: Design new text mining, information retrieval algorithms to improve Medline retrieval.
- Current Microarray data analysis projects: Design computational algorithms to discover biomarkers efficiently.
- Recent publications:
