Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies


The Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (MAIS) degree is a flexible graduate program that allows you to design academic study around topics of interest to suit your career goals.

The degree is limited only by your intellectual interests. Through this program, you can combine courses from UT Dallas’ eight schools or delve into an area of interest.

A full-time student can complete the MAIS degree in one year. Part-time students should allow two years to complete this program. Internships are an encouraged part of the MAIS degree plan and may be completed for academic credit.

Application Requirements

Degree requirements: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

Test score required: Yes

Verbal plus quantitative GRE score of 295 (or equivalent examination) is advisable.

Letters of recommendation: 3

Applicants must submit three letters of recommendation from individuals who can judge the candidate’s probability of success in graduate school. Use the electronic request form in the graduate application to submit the letters. Contact the graduate academic program department if you have any questions.
