Chinese Bridge Competitions

The "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition is an international contest sponsored by Hanban (the Chinese Language Council International, which sponsors cultural and educational exchanges worldwide. The competition consists of 3 events:

  • "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students
  • "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign High School Students
  • "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Students in China.

The competition is held annually, organized and carried out by the Organizing Committee.

Although UT Dallas is not formally associated with the competition, the Confucius Institute at UT Dallas is responsible for organizing preliminary contests in local schools from the DFW area in order to select contestants to attend the competitions held every year in China. In 2010, Roland Salatino, a high school student from St. Marks School of Texas, won first place in the regional competition in Houston. He will go to China in October to compete with other contestants from other countries of the world.
