Confucius Classroom
The Confucius Classroom is a non-profit institution through the Confucius Institute at The University of Texas at Dallas, with the purpose of enhancing understanding and friendship between the young people of China and the Unites States by sponsoring courses of Chinese language and culture in primary, middle and high schools. The Confucius Classrooms provide participating schools with Chinese language teaching and cultural equipment and materials, including books, audio-visual and multimedia materials and courseware, and volunteer Chinese teachers. In addition, ISD superintendents, school principals, Chinese language teachers and students will have opportunities to go on sponsored trips to China.
So far, 6 Confucius Classrooms have been established in six local schools. They are Denton Creek Elementary School, Coppell Middle School East, Coppell Middle School West, Coppell Middle School North, L. D. Bell High School, and Trinity High School. With the support of finance, equipments, and volunteer Chinese teachers provided by the Headquarters of the Confucius Institute and the Confucius Institute at UT Dallas, six schools have greatly expanded their Chinese programs, which have attracted more than 200 students to enroll in their Chinese language or culture classes, tripled compared with the number before the Classrooms were established.
Schools that are interested in our Confucius Classroom Program can send email to: ConfuciusInstitute@utdallas.edu. Our program coordinator will answer any questions you have about that.
