For almost 30 years, The Center for Translation Studies at The University of Texas at Dallas has received widespread national and international recognition for its pioneering role in advancing and promoting the study and practice of literary translation.
Directed by Professor Rainer Schulte, the Center has a broad mission: enhancing the visibility and establishing the importance of the translator as the most important mediator between cultures; supporting the scholarly analysis and creation of literary translations; establishing partnerships with writers, scholars, and publishers around the world; and publishing the international journalTranslation Review.
Furthermore, the Center has also developed and implemented innovative methods derived from the art and craft of translation for teaching literature and the humanities.
In today's globalized world, which depends increasingly on successful intercultural communication, these aspects of the Center's mission have become even more important.
