The Yale Series of Books on the History and Theory of Museums

A series of commissioned volumes on art museums published by Yale University Press, edited by Richard Brettell, will look into museum archives, architecture, and collections to demonstrate ways in which the “museum condition” has been defined and altered both globally and across several centuries. Each volume will deal with a particular critical problem in museum history in a comparative way, cutting across national boundaries and grounding its conclusions in new research. The series of publications is supported by a grant from The Jake L. & Nancy B. Hamon Charitable Foundation. Contact CISM office for further information.
