History

As the first Confucius Institute in the state of Texas, the Confucius Institute at the University of Texas at Dallas was inaugurated on November 4, 2007. It is housed within the School of Arts & Humanities and located in the fifth floor of Eric Jonsson Academic Center on the UTD campus. Our partner school in China is South East University in Nanjing.

With strong support from the Confucius Institute Headquarters and the University of Texas at Dallas, the Confucius Institute at UT Dallas has grown rapidly and has developed a series of vigorous programs to help people learn Chinese language or culture and understand China. Program highlights include: Language and Culture Courses, Chinese Proficiency Tests (HSK, YCT, BCT), Confucius Classroom, Teacher Training, “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition, etc.  Various events, like lectures, Confucius Salon, Chinese Culture Week, Chinese New Year Celebration, etc. are held on a regular basis to provide the public with unique opportunities to experience and explore authentic Chinese cultural practice.
