How to Apply to Establish a Confucius Classroom?

The Confucius Institute at the University of Texas at Dallas screens elementary and secondary schools to determine whether they meet the following requirements:

  • Being a government accredited education entity;
  • In general, being located in the same region where the Confucius Institute is;
  • Having started a Chinese program or is preparing for one;
  • Being able to provide necessary teaching facilities, personnel, and funding support required for a Confucius Classroom.

The pre-selected schools will furnish to the Institute the following application materials:

  • An application letter signed by the principle or the superintendent.
  • Application Proposal.

The Confucius Institute at UT Dallas submits the application letter, proposal and supporting documents from the Institute to the Confucius Institute Headquarters for approval.

The Headquarters review the application and decide whether the application is approved or denied

If the application is approved, the Confucius Institute at UT Dallas signs a cooperation agreement with the school that hosts Confucius Classroom to specify responsibilities, rights and obligations of both parties.  A copy of signed agreement shall be provided to the Headquarters for record. Confucius Classroom is officially established.

The Confucius Institute at UT Dallas assists the Confucius Classroom to develop work plans, draft start-up fund application proposal, and apply for teachers/volunteers, teaching materials and other support. The Confucius Classroom starts to run and grow.
