Confucius Institute of UT Dallas Celebrates the Year of Monkey

February 6, 2016

The 2016 Chinese New Year Celebration sponsored by the Confucius Institute at UT Dallas was held on Saturday, February 6 at the Alexander Clark Center on-campus. It was not only a carnival for the Year of the Monkey, but also a celebration to showcase the achievements in teaching and learning Chinese language and culture by the Confucius Institute and its affiliated Confucius Classrooms. The two-hour long performance was wholly presented by students, teachers, and staff of the Confucius Institute and Confucius Classroom. The performers came from over a dozen local schools: Carroll High School, Dallas International School, QD Academy, Episcopal School of Dallas, Westwood School of Dallas, Discovery Montessori Academy, Highland Park Middle School, Highland Park High School, Good Elementary School, Seller Middle School, International Leadership of Texas, UTD Chinese Program, St. Mark’s School of Texas and Sunray Chinese School. They presented a wide variety of performances covering many aspects of Chinese language and culture, featuring Chinese songs, dances, cross talks, martial arts, musicals, ballet and calligraphy. The celebration attracted an audience of over 500 and was a huge success.
