Course Title:
Spanish Workshop

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

This workshop serves to help students meet the School's requirement for advanced reading and comprehension of Spanish by M.A. and Ph.D. students. Students should have attained at least intermediate competency (usually equivalent to four semesters of college Spanish courses) before registration. Course work includes textual analysis as well as some supplementary grammar review, designed to facilitate the decoding of texts in various fields of the arts and humanities. The final examination for the workshop is also the program's language proficiency examination, which consists of two translation passages (one from a primary source, the other from a secondary or critical source).

COURSE REQUIREMENTS/EVALUATION CRITERIA:

A final grade will be awarded based on student participation, quizzes, homework assignments, and the final examination.
