Course Title:
Creating Performances

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

Students will develop original live performances or video, audio, or animation pieces.
We will practice techniques and exercises that can inspire the creation and performance of new works.

This course is appropriate for both advanced artists and also for beginners with no experience.

Participants may choose to develop work in any genre (drama or comedy, screenplay, fiction, nonfiction, poetry, biography, autobiography, song, adaptation, translation). Each project will develop its own form of performance (theater, video, multi-media, reading, performance art, installation, audio, music, dance, puppetry, visual art).

Participants may decide to perform their own work or to collaborate with others.
Participants may develop solos or ensemble works.

This course is taught by an artist whose theater and multi-media work has received international recognition.

REQUIRED TEXTS:

COURSE REQUIREMENTS/EVALUATION CRITERIA:

Ongoing presentation of work-in-progress, participation in class discussions and critiques, final project, attendance. No previous performing experience is required.
