Course Title:
Understanding Theater

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

This course will cover different genres and time periods of theatre and the impact that society has on live theatre. It will also include discussion on how theatre holds a mirror to society to present what is relevant and to have a deeper understanding of issues. Students will gain a greater knowledge and appreciation for the art of live theater and what is involved in taking a script from text to stage. The course instructor is Calvin Royall, who works under the stage name Akin' Babatunde. Babatunde recently directed Arthur Miller's "All My Sons" in the University Theatre and works as a professional actor and director in the metroplex.
