Beginning Modern Dance

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

In this class, students will study modern dance technique at a beginning level. Modern dance will be taught through the practice of technique, supplemented with attendance at performances and viewing of videos.

REQUIRED TEXTS:

none required

COURSE REQUIREMENTS/EVALUATION CRITERIA:

Student evaluation will be based on quality of participation, attendance, individual improvement, and writing assignments. The student must attend two live dance performances and write an analysis for at least one.

40% Participation
20% Attendance
20% Performance attendance and written critiques
20% Skill and Vocabulary
