DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

Translation in the Digital Age.

An experimental seminar to be team-taught by Drs. Thomas Linehan, Frank Dufour and Rainer Schulte,

The conceptual frame of the seminar is to use the paradigm of translation in the investigation of cross-cultural communications in the digital age.

The seminar will explore the new digital technologies as they inspire, facilitate and enable new types of cultural and artistic translation.

REQUIRED TEXTS:

COURSE REQUIREMENTS/EVALUATION CRITERIA:

Students will be required to be involved in the design and production of “Text to Media” projects (sound, music, gesture and iconic expressions.) Students will be required to document in a critical paper to show hoe the translation model applies to the media transfer.
