Course Title:
Music Theory I

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

Students will acquire basic writing skills in music. Work includes written assignments in harmony and composition, analysis of representative works from the literature, keyboard harmony, ear training, and solfege-singing.

Students must have prior knowledge of music fundamentals. The course will begin with a short review of fundamentals.

REQUIRED TEXTS:

Music in Theory and Practice, Vol. 1, 8th Edition (plus workbook) -- Benward and Saker
