Course Title:
Music Theory I

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

Music Theory I will enable the student to further develop basic musicianship skills, including harmony, composition, music analysis, ear training, functional keyboard, and sight-singing. Both written assignments and applied musicianship assignments in keyboard and sight singing will be covered.

REQUIRED TEXTS:

Music in Theory and Practice, Vol. 1, 8th Edition (plus workbook) -- Benward and Saker

COURSE REQUIREMENTS/EVALUATION CRITERIA:

Students should be familiar with basic music fundamentals. The course will begin with a thorough review of fundamentals.
