Course Title:
Music Theory II

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

Students will acquire basic writing skills in music. Work includes written assignments in harmony and composition, analysis of representative works from the literature, keyboard harmony, ear-training, and singing with solfege. This semester's topics include secondary dominants, modulation, and binary and ternary forms.

REQUIRED TEXTS:

"Music in Theory and Practice", Vol. 1, 8th ed., by Benward and Saker (textbook and workbook)

COURSE REQUIREMENTS/EVALUATION CRITERIA:

Music Theory I, or approval of the instructor.
