Idea of Latin America

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

This seminar is an introduction to Latin American intellectual history. Students will read the work of major thinkers from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries (such as Bolivar, Sarmiento, Marti, Fernandez Retamar, and Dussel).

Readings will be in English, and knowledge of Spanish is NOT required.
