Course Title:
Music Theory I

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

Students will acquire basic writing and listening skills in music. Work includes written assignments in harmony and composition, analysis of representative works from the literature, keyboard harmony, ear training, and singing in solfege.

Students should have prior knowledge of music fundamentals. The course begins with a short review of fundamentals (scales, key signatures, intervals, chords.)

Music in Theory and Practice, Vol. I, 8th Edition (workbook included) -- Benward and Saker
Book is in the bookstore. Beware of online orders with missing pages, missing workbook, filled-in exercises, etc.
