DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

In this class, students will study ballet technique at a beginning level. Ballet will be taught through the practice of technique, supplemented with attendance at performances and viewing dance videos.

REQUIRED TEXTS:

Recommended: Gail Grant's Dictionary and Technical Manual of Classical Ballet

COURSE REQUIREMENTS/EVALUATION CRITERIA:

Student evaluation will be based on quality of participation, attendance, individual improvement, and writing assignments. Students must attend two live dance performances and write a critique using the guidelines handed out in class.

Students will need appropriate dancewear for this class.
