Course Title:
Stretch, Conditioning, Alignment

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

Stretch, Conditioning, Alignment is designed to enrich the student’s understanding of his/her own physical condition. The student will achieve a deeper level of physical preparation for the study of dance technique, however the concepts can be applied to any fitness regimen. The course will apply principles of dance conditioning and alignment including the development of abdominal strength, floor barre practices, flexibility and placement exercises and selected exercises from yoga and Pilates. Students will address specific individual conditioning, flexibility, and alignment goals. In addition to developing a fitness practice through work in the studio, students will write a research report on a fitness practice they choose.

Work-out attire is required. A yoga or Pilates mat is suggested but not required. Workout clothing should be flexible and comfortable.
