Course Title:
The Art and Craft of Translation

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

This seminar/workshop will focus on both the practical and theoretical aspects of literary translation. By studying the work of other translators and producing translations of their own, students will both explore the practical challenges of literary translation and develop their skills as critical readers of translations. Students will also interrogate important theoretical work in the field of translation studies.

REQUIRED TEXTS:

Books will be available from the UT Dallas Bookstore and Off Campus Books.

Precis Assignments (4) 20%
