Small Group Communication

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

COMM 4340.001 is small group communication theory and practice. Small group communication theory topics include:
Group development
Leadership
Effective and defective group decision making
Problem solving
Conflict management
How teams differ from groups, and
How to function in virtual groups through technology.

After theory comes practice. Students will work on a team project that will include both a written report and an oral presentation. Working in teams is becoming an increasingly important part of work life. This course will attempt to combine both communication theory and practical application so students may transition more effectively into their careers.

Credit for RHET 1302 or equivalent
College level writing ability
Proficient in English (oral and written)
