Course Title:
Drawing Foundations

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

This drawing course has particular focus for students interested in the figure and appreciation for animation and time based art. Classic drawing methods and figure drawing will be explored along with movement studies. Figure drawing sessions will be with a nude model. Working through series of exercises and drawing assignments, students will build skill and technique throughout the semester. In addition to and beyond technique, students will engage in a practice of drawing with objectives toward focus, creativity, and discipline.

REQUIRED TEXTS:

None. Supplementary resource texts are listed in the class syllabus but not required.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS/EVALUATION CRITERIA:

1. Attendance and participation in studio class sessions.
2. Willingness to investigate and grow artistically, developing a stronger and more sensitive vision through the drawing practice.
3. Completion of weekly outside assignments.
