Emergent Media Production

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

This advanced studio + workshop course focuses on variety of topics in Emerging Media Art as a field of contemporary art practices and art historical systems. Emerging or New Media work is considered in relation to other screen|time|code-based art media and is also viewed in ongoing dialogue with traditional art practices such as performance, installation, conceptual art and sculpture. Creative voice is emphasized over technical skills and students will engage with fundamental properties that distinguish Emerging Media practices while developing a personal media vocabulary. Technology used in this course will include Final Cut Pro10x and Isadora.

REQUIRED TEXTS:

COURSE REQUIREMENTS/EVALUATION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of Final Cut Pro X, and Photoshop is required + being familiar with some of the theories and concepts in New Media Art is required.
