Eastern European Literature

Description of Course:

The contemporary literature of countries like Ukraine, Romania, and Serbia has the urgency and intensity of writers engaging with a new world. At the same time, they are revisiting the region’s history with a new intensity. In this course, we will read some of the most interesting works from these writers. The course gives a broad overview of a region in which literature is written with intensity and read with passion.

Course Requirements/Evaluation Criteria:

one paper, one presentation, a mid-term and final exam
