Course Title
Music Theory I

Description of Course:

An essential class for everyone interested in music. Students will acquire basic writing skills in music, augmented by singing in solfege, ear-training, and keyboard harmony. Topics include harmonic progressions and form.

A prior knowledge of music fundamentals is preferred.

Required Texts:

Music in Theory and Practice, Vol. I, (with workbook) -- Benward and Saker

A new 9th edition is available, but the 8th edition can be found online at a much more reasonable price. Order online ahead of time to allow for delays in shipping. Beware of used copies with markings and missing pages.
