Description of Course:

THIS COURSE IS AVAILABLE TO DOCTORAL STUDENTS ONLY.

This will be an advanced seminar that will treat major figures and movements in British and American poetry of the modern (1800-1950s) period, including the Romantics, Victorians, Georgians and Edwardians, and Moderns, in British poetry, the Romantics, Realists, Naturalists, and Moderns in American poetry. The course will proceed as a formal graduate seminar with formally presented papers and discussions and reading in the major poets and poetry of the period.

Course Requirements/Evaluation Criteria:

Depending on enrollment, students will be asked to do one to two formal presentations and to compose and turn in a formal seminar paper.
