International Concert Guitarist Competition
The top four finalists from around the world compete for over $6500 in prize money.
9am & 1:30pm, AH1, Free
4pm, Alexander Clark Center (formerly Conference Center), Free
Jeff Cogan will present a performance titled “Buying a World Class Guitar from Daniel Friederich.” Cogan served as director of the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition for more than 20 years. As a student, he was honored by being asked to perform for the great Spanish guitarist, Andres Segovia. Cogan is currently the president of the Orange County Guitar Circle.
8pm, Alexander Clark Center (formerly Conference Center), $25
Noted for their “sensitive musicianship, virtuosic panache and stylistic performance,” Susana Prieto from Madrid, Spain and Alexis Murakis of Athens, Greece have performed in many prestigious halls such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Berliner Philharmoniker, Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow and Merkin Concert Hall in New York City. Competition winners announced after intermssion of this concert.
