Photoworks 2014, a selection of creative work completed by students from the University of Texas at Dallas will be on view in the Second Floor Gallery of the Edith O'Donnell Building from May 24, through June, 21, 2014.

The exhibition, curated by Professor Marilyn Waligore, features the work of twelve undergraduate photography students from the University of Texas at Dallas.  Participating students include Raffi Andonian, Margot Beauchamp, Marissa Covarrubias, Evan Gary, Elizabeth Kensinger, Woosol Kim, Marco Molina, Erik Nunez, Chelsea Spence, Christopher Wang, William Wilt, and Theresa Wolforth.   Students have selected a variety of themes, such as:  tableaux imagery that explores the human psyche and relationships;  visual interpretations of human addictions;  documentation of obsolete communication technologies; unique portraits achieved through the combination of a sitter's words and image; landscape imagery challenging conventions used to describe pictorial space; portraits of non-tourists within urban tourist destinations; and studies that heighten viewer awareness in terms of visual perception and the optical properties of the lens.

The core of the photography program at UT Dallas involves digital photography, and darkroom-based black and white photography. Advanced students refine their portfolio for exhibition, developing critical responses to issues in contemporary art. Advanced classes vary, from engagement in photography and new media to specific applications, such as studio lighting.
