AUDITION INFORMATION FOR FALL 2016

 

GENERAL AUDITION INFORMATION

1. Auditions for ALL FOUR ensembles will be held on the Sunday before the first day of classes, August 21, beginning at 1pm, in building AH1, on the UT Dallas campus. Sign-up sheets for the auditions will be posted on the Music Bulletin Board in AH1, no later than Friday, August 19.

2. Auditions for the Wind Ensemble and the String Orchestra will be for placement purposes only. (Anyone wishing to play in either of these ensembles is automatically accepted). *Please see below for enrollment information.

3. Any woodwind or brass players interested in auditioning for the University Orchestra will need to participate in these auditions for acceptance and chair placement in the University Orchestra. String players are automatically accepted into the University Orchestra.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
1. Percussion, woodwind, and brass players will have 7 minute time slots for their audition. Each player will be asked to play 2 solos or etudes of different styles, plus 2 two octave scales (percussionists may be asked to play basic rudiments).

*ENROLLMENT IN WIND ENSEMBLE AND STRING ORCHESTRA
To enroll in Wind Ensemble or String Orchestra you must have an enrollment code. Contact the UT Dallas Assistant Wind Ensemble Director and Brass Instructor, Dr. Linda Salisbury, at [email protected] to request an enrollment code.

For specific questions regarding String Orchestra you may contact Mr. Adron Ming, Director of the UT Dallas String Orchestra, at [email protected]. Specific percussion questions may be directed to the UT Dallas Percussion Instructor and Pep Band Director, Ms. Lori Gerard, at [email protected].

To make an individual appointment with Dr. Robert X. Rodriguez to audition for the Advanced Orchestra/Chamber Music Ensemble, you may email [email protected]. Dr. Rodriguez will be attending the auditions for String Ensemble and Wind Ensemble.
