Annual Texas Guitar Competition and Festival

Youth Competition Guidelines:

Application deadline: February 18, 2013

Competition – Saturday, March 2:

Division I (ages 11-14): 10 am - 2 pm, in AH1
Competitors must play two contrasting pieces not to exceed 7 minutes total.
Example: Carcassi Etude, and a Brouwer Prelude, or similar.

Division II (ages 15-18): 10 am - 2 pm, in AH1
Competitors must play two contrasting pieces not to exceed 10 minutes total.
Example: a movement of a Rodrigo or Brouwer work, and a fantasy by John Dowland, or similar.

Registration Instructions:

  1. Fill out the Youth application form online here. You must pay the application fee of $25 in order for your application to be considered.
  2. Send a letter of recommendation from your guitar instructor. No application will be considered without a mailed letter of recommendation.

You must be present Saturday night at the award presentation in order to receive the merchandise prizes. If you are not present, only the check for the award amount will be mailed to you.
