This course is for students at UT Dallas who are interested in expanding their musicianship skills in a performance ensemble for electric guitars. Bassists and drummer/percussionists also are welcome. Basic skills such as sight reading (both linear and chord), stylistic articulations and phrasing, and improvisation will be covered. Arrangements over a wide variety of styles, including jazz, rock, latin, and classical will provide the framework for mastering these skills. Opportunity for writing,arranging and performing original works will also be provided to those who are interested.
Requirements: The ensemble can accommodate any level of student, from beginning to very advanced players. The student should provide his or her own guitar and cord. Tuners are optional, but recommended.
