Undergraduates in Historical Studies
Historical Studies in the School of Arts and Humanities offers students of diverse interests and multiple talents on different career paths a unique program of interdisciplinary education.
Undergraduates in Historical Studies have the opportunity to pursue a major field in history or a minor field in history, philosophy or medical and scientific humanities; write an honors thesis; join the Phi Alpha Theta national history honors society and go on the Fast-Track toward the MA in History while completing the BA.

Students of history and philosophy explore a range of historical periods and themes as well as regions of the world and study deeply in specific topics and issues, such as:
- Medieval China
- Latin America
- The Holocaust
- Women in 20th-Century America
- Modern European Thought
UT Dallas' Center for U.S.-Latin America Initiatives and International Center, Ackerman Center for Holocaust Studies and Confucius Institute offer additional opportunities for students to enrich their education in Historical Studies and participate in the intellectual life of the University.

The Historical Studies faculty is genuinely committed to the interdisciplinary philosophy underlying the school's scholastic structure. Widely diverse in backgrounds and interests, Historical Studies professors frequently employ approaches that mesh the several disciplines of the school as classes explore specific academic areas from a broad scholarly perspective. Students obtaining a degree in Historical Studies are not only well prepared to enter the professional world with a well-rounded and broad-based education, they also are properly equipped to follow their educational ambitions into post-graduate education in any of a variety of graduate and professional schools. UT Dallas' School of Arts and Humanities graduates have been recognized by the business and industrial community as well as by other universities as being among the top choices for candidacy for major positions and programs.

Students are also eligible to apply for membership in the Alpha Mu Iota chapter of Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society at UT Dallas.
