The Radiant UT Dallas Guitar Ensemble will be led by Enric Madriguera, Russell Cleveland Professor in Guitar Studies and Director of Guitar Studies at UT Dallas, and Charles Watson, a member of the UT Dallas guitar faculty, guitar instructor and director of bands at International Leadership of Texas, and founder of the Guitar Program at the Pegasus School of Liberal Arts and Science.
The Radiant ensemble is a non-credit, community-based ensemble. The players participate in this ensemble to better themselves on guitar. Several members have toured with us in the past to festivals in Texas, Mexico, and Spain. These opportunities still exist and are an option for even the newest members of the ensemble. We will perform at UT Dallas and be available to the community once we are ready. Auditioning or obtaining permission from your instructor is required to take this class. In order to qualify, you must have the ability to read music and be able to provide your own nylon string guitar.
Credit classes at UT Dallas are taught during the academic school year by Professors Enric Madriguera, Charles Watson, Eddie Healy, and Dan Hodan. Private lessons are available from all UT Dallas faculty by private arrangement.
Ensemble music comes from various sources including traditional folk, classical, and popular repertory. The ensemble meets on Sundays from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in AH1 during the Spring and Fall semesters.
There is a $100 fee to participate in this ensemble; payable to "UT Dallas Guitar Studies." We can offer a 50% scholarship by audition to people with economic need.
Players are selected by invitation of the faculty. Players interested in this ensemble who are new to UT Dallas are invited to audition for the ensemble, please make an appointment to do so:
