- Donations of books (including used) or other gifts for fund-raising events
- Software (approximately $400 for educational packages, DreamWeaver for web, InDesign for layout)
- Additional computer, printer, software (we share one computer and one printer for 17 staff members and 3 teaching assistants)
- Latest copy of Associated Writing Programs (AWP) directory (ours is 10 years old, $28.45)
- Advertising in AWP publication ($155-300 for two months), Small Press Review ($50 for single issue)
- Web domain purchase (renewal in early 2008, approx. $15)
- Office supplies--pens (esp. red for copy-editing), index cards (blue and yellow, 3x5), highlighters, paper and ink
- Reams of paper for flyers and announcements (bright yellow, purple, blue)
- Contributions for food, supplies, drinks for readings and events
- Costs of mailing flyers and other documents ($200/year)
- Recent copies of other literary journals (donations of very recent literary journals you're finished with requested; we keep a variety to look at formatting, content, grants awarded, etc.)
- Bar-coding (through printer or published separately)
- Annual Council of Literary Magazines and Presses membership ($75 annually, $90 if we receive a grant)
- Annual Council of Editors of Learned Journals membership ($40 annually)
- Books or other gifts for undergrad contest winners
- Supplies for release party (name tags, award certificates and covers)
- Table at AWP/other conferences
- Funds/grants to publish a second issue each year
