Establishing LinguaMOO Accounts
for Students

Any interested student (and instructor) can receive a free LinguaMOO account.

Follow these steps to facilitate the creation of LinguaMOO accounts for your students:

  1. Create a list of student email addresses and full names in the following format:
    steve@utdallas.edu Steve Johnson
    mary@utdallas.edu Mary Smith
    Etc etc
  2. Send this list to Cynthia Haynes via email. Her email addres is: cynthiah@utdallas.edu

Each student should receive a welcome email message from Lingua MOO. This message will contain the student's login ID and password. This password must be used the first time the student uses the new LinguaMOO account, but may be changed at any time after that.

This email message will also contain a copy of "Beginner's Guide to MOOing" (also available under the "LinguaMOO" heading in the menu to the left) which contains basic commands for communicating and navigating in LinguaMOO. Information to help students create their first LinguaMOO room is also included in this email message.

NOTE: Help guides are located in the Help Kiosk, located just off the Courtyard in LinguaMOO. Both you and your students are welcome to use them. Additional resources are available under the "LinguaMOO" heading in the menu to the left.
Finally, please remind your students that LinguaMOO is an international community with people around the world trying to do serious work there. Your students are expected to behave professionally.
