MOO Building Quick Tips

Creating Exits from a Room
  1. Determine the "object #" of the place where you want the exit to lead. This place must be already existent. If not, you will have to first build it.
To do this, go to that place and then type "@examine here" (quote marks are not necessary) to determine object number of that place from the information provided by you entering this command.
Or, use the "My Stuff" button at the top of the screen to display your "Object Inventory." The number of each object you have created and/or own will be displayed here.
  2. Type "@dig out to #xxxx"

NOTE: "xxxx" should be the number of the object/room you want to exit to.
This creates an exit leading from the current room to object #xxx.

Creating Exits between Two Rooms, Both Owned by the Same Builder
  1. Type "@dig in|out to #xxxx" (quote marks are not necessary).
NOTE: "xxxx" should be the number of the object/room you want to exit to. This object must be already existent. If not, you will have to first build it.

This creates an exit to object #xxxx, and from that room, an exit back to the first room.

Creating Exits between Rooms Owned by Different Builders
  1. Set the rooms so that they are shared with each other
  2. Make exits and entrances to and from MOO your rooms

NOTE: Your best bet is to email information about your rooms (their object numbers) to Cynthia Haynes (cynthiah@utdallas.edu) describing what you want to do. She will set the necessary sharing properties.
or,
after sharing their rooms, each player can dig an exit to the other room.

Returning Objects that Have Been Moved
  1. Determine the "object #" of the object that has been moved from your room
  2. Go to the room where you want to object returned to
  3. Type "@move #xxxx to here"
NOTE: "xxxx" should be the number of the object you want returned.

Creating A Link to A LinguaMOO Room from the LRO

  1. Determine the "Object #" of the room you wish the link to lead to
  2. In the appropriate place within your LRO portfolio, type "http://lingua.utdallas.edu:7000/xxxx" (quote marks not necessary) as the address for the link
NOTE: "xxxx" should be the object number of the room you want the link to lead to.
