He lay there, tired, and when I
walked in, I was simply a distraction
from the thing that held his attention.
Flashes of light, a million little
dots forming one succinct
image, changing constantly.
He had already put on his gray
sweat pants and blue t-shirt. I leaned
over to give him a kiss, he moved
his head down to kiss the cat.
Furry little silver body with white
patches. Cute little paws and ears that
beg to be cuddled and petted, especially
when she made the little sound
that told you she wanted attention.
“How was you day, Dear?” he asked.
“Fine,” I replied. I was still waiting
for my kiss. “How was yours?” I asked.
“Fine,” he replied. I wasn’t getting
my kiss.
Furry little silver body rolled
over to nuzzle his chin.
The million little dots formed
The Enterprise
and I knew all was lost.
