Bio: Catherine Hammond is currently translating the contemporary poetry of Carmen Boullosa, a central figure of Mexico's "Boom Femenino." Her translations of the poetry of Olvido García Valdés, winner of Spain’s Premio Nacional 2007, appear as a center chapbook from Mid-American Review, House Surrounded by Scaffold, and in Field, Hayden’s Ferry, Drunken Boat, Cerise, Metamorphoses, Words Without Borders and many others. Her BA in Spanish is from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She holds a Masters of Fine Arts in creative writing from Arizona State University. Her own poetry has been anthologized and published in many national reviews. She is founder and moderator of Tempe Poetry in April, an annual reading series sponsored by the city of Tempe AZ, now in its 12th season.
