Bio: My family is from the small Mediterranean island of Menorca, in the Balearic island group. A dialect of Catalan (menorqui) is spoken there. After translating from French, Italian, and Japanese, I've only recently come to translating Catalan, particularly the contemporary Menorcan poet Ponç Pons. Another recent translation project is a selection of poems from the Book of the Lover and the Beloved by the medieval Catalan mystic Ramon Llull. Most recently, I've been working with modern Catalan poetry of Maria Antònia Salvá, Clementina Arderiu, Rosa Leveroni, Maria Marcè Marçal, and Maria Carme Arnau i Orts. I teach in the writing program at Boise State University.
