Bio: My family is from the small Mediterranean island of Menorca, in the Balearic island group. A dialect of Catalan (menorqui) is spoken there. After translating from French, Italian, and Japanese, I've only recently come to translating Catalan, particularly the contemporary Menorcan poet Ponç Pons. My most recent translation project is a selection of poems from the Book of the Lover and the Beloved by the medieval Catalan mystic Ramon Llull. I teach in the writing program at Boise State University.

Publications: Recent published translations from Catalan: Selections from Ponç Pons’s Pessoanes. Translated from Catalan. Ed. Martin Corless-Smith. Boise, ID: Free Poetry Chapbook Series, 2012. “Abscondita Lectio,” “Crespusculario,” “Summer’s Rain,” “Palinurus,” “Roser.” Poems by Ponç Pons. Translated from Catalan. Notre Dame Review 34, forthcoming in December 2012.
