Bio: Ibtihal Mahmood is a Jordanian essayist, translator, journalist, and poet. Born in Kuwait, she moved to Jordan with her family in the summer of 1990, a few weeks prior to the second Gulf War. While in Jordan, she studied English Literature and started her career as a journalist and an Arabic translator. She worked as a reporter, an English web editor, and a web translator, before she moved to Washington State, USA in 2007. She is now the Chairperson of the Arabic Division at the International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA).
