Public Profile Tom Weber Primary Profession: Independent Translator Expertise: Stage plays and screenplays Language(s): French Bio: My SCAPIN ON THE MISSISSIPPI is a faithful translation of Molière’s LES FOURBERIES DE SCAPIN, set, however, in 1840 New Orleans. For Montreal writer-director Ken Scott I translated the screenplay of his comedy STARBUCK for a U.S. remake. DreamWorks acquired the screenplay and filmed the remake, called DELIVERY MAN, released October 2013. For the Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques in Paris, I translated a comedy by Sylvie Chenus, as THE LOST PARADISE CLUB. For Emmy-winning Montreal writer-director Yves Simoneau I translated a screenplay, as ANNA'S MONSTER. I wrote two multi-media dramas commissioned and produced by the Art Institute of Chicago, with dialog entirely from my translations of the writings of Marc Chagall (authorized by the Chagall estate) and Vincent Van Gogh--respectively MY WALLS and A BED BENEATH THE STARS.
