As we kick off the new school year, I want to share some exciting developments in alumni relations. As many of you know, my office is responsible for developing, managing and promoting programs and services that engage and steward over 50,000 UT Dallas alumni in the life of the university. Since I joined the office back in April, I have had the opportunity to talk with many of you and evaluate our alumni relations program. This evaluative process has given me great insight on ways to improve and grow our program to meet the changing needs of our university.
This year we are working toward developing programming that targets a much broader audience. As a result, we have developed a comprehensive alumni stewardship program that has been carefully planned and will be implemented for UT Dallas alumni throughout the year. This program focuses on presenting a greater number of social, educational, and professional development opportunities that will allow alumni to engage with one another and the university, while also cultivating and recognizing alumni donors and their philanthropy.
As part of this broader perspective, we are looking at ways that we can pair alumni and students together for mentorship, social, and overall volunteer opportunities. This year the office will be sponsoring and co-hosting student events so that current students know what they have to look forward to when they graduate. We are launching a new alumni networking website for all UT Dallas alumni that will provide an interactive web-experience and allow alumni to create personal pages with profiles, photos and blogs. We are also going to encourage current UT Dallas juniors and seniors to register on the website and begin networking with alumni for volunteer opportunities and career advice.
Stay in touch and keep your eyes open for new and different programming and communications in the coming months. We have a great deal to share with you!
