Dr. Martha Ellis (M.S. ‘79) has accepted the newly created position of vice chancellor for community college partnerships with The University of Texas System in Austin. She will begin her new position July 1, 2008. She is the former president of Lee College.

 

Catherine R. Gerali (B.S. ’81) was recently named district manager of the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District for metropolitan Denver, Colorado.    

 

Dr. Susan Conrad (Ph.D. ‘82) is a professor of nursing at Framingham State College and has been working to address the shortage of nurse educators in Massachusetts. 

 

Ben Tranchina (B.S.E.E. ’94, M.S.E.E. ’00) has been recently promoted to vice president for product development at Advanced Neuromodulation Systems.

 

Karen Harrington (B.A. ‘96) recently completed her first novel, Janeology

Stephen Scott (M.B.A. ‘00) was profiled in Collin County Business recently as the development manager for the Mario Sinacola Companies in Frisco.  He has been with Mario Sinacola for two years, and was previously with EDS for 16 years. He lives in Allen with his family.

 

Jeff Thornberry (M.B.A. ‘00) has joined First United Bank-McKinney as the vice president of commercial lending. He focuses mainly on real estate and has more than 20 years of banking experience. He is also a member of the North Texas Mensa Society, Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas, and Leadership Allen Class XV.

 

Karen Fine (M.S. ‘01) was named the director of administrative and financial services for the Art Institute of Charleston. She previously held the same position at the Art Institute of Dallas, was a division manager of financial planning and analysis at Sourcecorp, and owned her own business.

 

Chris Kim (B.A. ‘07) has graduated from basic infantry training from Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia. He underwent nine weeks of intensive training and learned many specialty skills available to the infantry crewmen. 

 

Jennifer Thorn (B.A. ’07) was named Beginning Teacher of the Year at Plano East Senior High. She teaches strategic reading in the special education department at the school.

 

Jenalyn D. Hall (B.A. ’08) received her degree in humanities this spring.  She is the forth person in three generations of her family to graduate from UT Dallas.  Her mother, Dana Atchley Hall (B.S. ’08); grandmother, Phaona M. Atchley (M.S. ’77); and grandfather, John Q. Atchley (M.S. ’77), are also alumni.
