The UT Dallas Athletics Department, now just over a decade old, has been one of the university's true success stories. The Comets have become one of the top contenders in the NCAA Division III American Southwest Conference in just about every sport.
Now, the Comets are able to start telling their story even better with a new, redesigned website that has all the "bells and whistles" of websites at much more well-known universities.
The website, cometsports.utdallas.edu, offers complete news coverage of all UTD NCAA programs, including game stories, statistics, schedules and rosters. There are interactive links to Live Stats programs that allow parents and alumni to follow many of the UTD games in progress. And there are links specifically dedicated to the recruiting process.
"Not only does this new website give us a professional, timely means of keeping parents, students and other fans informed about what is happening on a day-to-day basis, it allows us to easily access other venues for promoting UTD and our program to the public," said Bruce Unrue, UTD's sports information sirector and webmaster for the new site. "We offer access to a wide array of quality action photography. We offer a link where fans can sign up for an online newsletter. And, down the road, we will be able to offer live webcasts of many of our games. It's a great way for fans to keep in touch."
One other feature geared specifically toward alumni and former student-athletes is a link to a form called FOR FORMER STUDENT-ATHLETES, accessible under the ATHLETE RESOURCES header on the site. Former players are asked to provide brief contact information and details about their life since leaving UTD. The department will use this information to stay in contact and offer alumni events in the future.
There is also a complete listing of UTD's game stories and statistics for most sports dating back as far as 1998. |
