As UT Dallas celebrates its 40th year, we recognize now more than ever the importance of strong connections to our alumni and friends. Students and their families were greeted with a "Welcome to the Neighborhood!" sign.The UT Dallas community gathered on Aug. 12 to welcome freshmen to the newly-constructed Residence Hall. The first residential hall in UT Dallas history will house 400 freshmen including Peer Advisors and Living Learning Community Leaders.
 
 Michael Kauffelt is president and CEO of Bill Few & Associates, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.Michael Kauffelt (BS '83) is proud to display his UT Dallas degree in his office, along with some other typical Texas items. But this alumnus is a long way from the Lone Star State. Julia LaBelle, a UT Dallas alumna who uses her math degree each day at her position as a Data Mining Manager at Nike Inc.Crunching numbers for a living may not sound all that glamorous, but it is when you work for the world's leading athletics apparel company. For Julia Read-LaBelle (MS '88), that means routine encounters with global sports icons.
