Walk Benefits Special Olympics
Alumni and guests are invited to participate in Richardson’s 2011 Corporate Challenge Great Walk on Friday, Aug. 19. By joining us for this free activity, you help UT Dallas earn spirit points toward the Corporate Challenge, which raises funds for the Special Olympics of Texas. The city of Richardson organizes the annual event, which pits area businesses against one another in a two-month competition beginning in late August.
From left: Patrice Holt, Jobin Thomas and Roxanne Minnish carry the Spirit Stick, which was awarded to UT Dallas for demonstrating Comet Pride and its strong support for Special Olympics.
The first 25 alumni to stop by the UT Dallas tent at Galatyn Park will receive a free UT Dallas pennant.
The one-mile route will take you through the Galatyn Woodland Preserve.
When you arrive at the Great Walk:
- No check-in is required; however, you must begin at the Start Tent on the plaza at Galatyn Park.
- Pick up a token to leave at the midpoint of the walk so that you’re counted.
- Wear something to identify your affiliation with UT Dallas(shirt, button, sticker, etc.).
- Participants can begin at 5:15 p.m., but must be at the midway point and checked-in by 7:45 p.m.
