It's a Record Year, Again!
By Dr. Aaron Conley
VP for Development and Alumni Relations
Thanks to generous alumni and friends like you, UT Dallas announced earlier this month that the 2011 fiscal year was a record year for private support. Total gifts and pledges exceeded $55 million, which surpassed last year’s record of $40.6 million. With a trailing five-year average before 2010 of just under $22 million, the donations over the last two years provide evidence that UT Dallas is clearly receiving unprecedented levels of philanthropic support.
Even more encouraging, the $55 million was the result of record numbers of donors in several categories. More than 3,500 donors gave to a school, center, or other unit at UT Dallas during the 2011 fiscal year. Of this group, 1,900 were alumni who stepped forward to make a positive impact. That’s another record!
We also saw a record in the number of first-time donors, as more than 1,500 individuals, companies or foundations gave for the first time to UT Dallas in support of our Tier One vision.
All of this good news was announced at a special event on Sept. 15. The new “Celebration of Support” was attended by more than 250 guests and took center stage on campus, under the trellis and between the McDermott Library and Student Union.
To the thousands of alumni and friends who gave last year, we extend heartfelt thanks for investing in our continued success!
Piyush Sinha and Jon McBride, donors to the new Executive MBA Class of 2011 Scholarship Fund, came out to celebrate the record fund-raising year. They were joined by Jon's wife, Christie.

Music from the Texas Instruments Jazz Band filled the center of campus during the event.
