Texas Instruments recently hosted Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. Part of the day's activities included providing information to young people about local universities, TI affinity groups and other organizations. UT Dallas staff and faculty were on hand to meet with the young participants. TI played an integral part in UT Dallas' history and growth. Today, it is the largest corporate employer of University graduates.
Several alumni and their high school children visited with admissions staff about attending UT Dallas.
UTeach master teacher, Jim McConnell, provides a hands-on opportunity for participants to observe hard crystals. UTeach is a University program launched in 2008 to increase the number of secondary science and mathematics teachers.
The most captivating activity involved flying robots with Dr. Nicholas Gans, a robotics researcher and assistant professor of electrical engineering.
